Brief 7: Belgrave Design Boards and Evaluation
This brief required a quick turnaround as it was set as a one day brief. I was pleased with some aspects to the outcomes of this brief, for example the layout of the final chosen poster works well when placed in context in the mockups, and can easily be visualised as something that would be on the wall in Belgrave Music Hall.
The previous posters show that the designers for Belgrave stick to a similar aesthetic for their promotional materials, and in light of this some aspects remained similar in the new designs. For example the infographic style illustrations are inspired by those already on their posters, as are the background and colour scheme. This is appropriate because in industry it may not be that the clients want a new look to their poster designs, and perhaps just slight variation.
The two posters that weren't chosen for the final are both still appropriate to the event, but the layout and set up of the illustrations seem a bit thrown together, whereas the chosen design is more stripped down to show the essentials - food, drink and music.
I was pleased with what I managed to produce in a day, in spite of spending very little time on research, meaning that a heavy load of research is not always necessary, which I could see informing some aspects of my practice in the future. While this meant that there was not a strong concept to the designs, which I usually take care over ensuring, the end result fits well among the other designs on the walls of Belgrave Music Hall.

Brief 7: Belgrave Photos and Mock Ups
I mocked up the final poster I chose for Belgrave Feast and I found that it fitted well in the environment it was set. I can see this design being in Belgrave Music Hall and fitting in with the other designs they exhibit.

Brief 7: Belgrave
After completing COP3 and having a few days break, I wanted to do one of my one day briefs as this is the pace I most enjoy working at, quick turnaround design that require limited research and depend mostly on visual interpretation of the brief.
I had previously been interested in doing some work for Belgrave Music Hall, and so decided to create a couple of new posters for the Belgrave Feast, an event Belgrave host every few months featuring street food, art, ales and music over their three floors.

I wanted to use the same aesthetic that was used on the above poster, simple linear illustrations with a block type. For the illustrations, I looked into what food, drinks and musical elements would be involved in the event.
I chose some features of the street food to replicate as well as some aspects of the art, music, and drinks involved.
I chose to use Bebas Neue for the copy, as it is quite similar to the original type they use in their logo, and I find it to be a fitting font for poster design as it lends itself to a balance of the visuals and copy.
For the finished posters I primarily used CMYK as the previous Belgrave posters had used Cyan often, so I just expanded that. I tried to incorporate some similarly angular styles to the background of the posters that also featured in earlier posters.
