Brief 4: Paco Rabanne Packaging

I thought that the logo design would give me a lot of scope to create a lot of large scale geometric patterns which would translate well for the packaging design. Similarly this aesthetic could be easily simplified if need be for the packaging.

Below are some of the experimentations I tried for the design of the box for the perfume bottle.

Box design:

The net design I chose (below) was the one I felt best embodied the concept of my idea, keeping it simple and classy, which almost a century ago was a symbol of manliness and masculinity. I decided to cut of the logo from the rest of the design in order to make it stand out, and to allow the pattern and logo to have a respective impact on the consumer.

I wanted to ensure continuity in the overall design, and since I thought the geometric white pattern on black background was reflective of the concept of the rebrand, I wanted to carry this onto to the design of the gift/carrier bag for the product.

I took the measurements from a small gift bag I had which would easily fit the measurements for the bottle, and allow room for one or two more products, which would be fitting if the brand were to expand to a private boutique.

Above is the final bag design I chose. The geometric patterns have lined up in the same way as on the box design, maintaining some level of consistency in the packaging design, but I reversed the colours to show how the design and the logo can be recreated across different planes and translated in a variety of contexts.
