Brief 1: Cannes Pamphlet(?)

I  had planned on including a festival program with the invitation pack but thought it would be beneficial for the guests to gain a slight insight into some of the bigger names and films involved in the festival without them needing to do much research. I chose to include a booklet of sorts that would give a brief explanation of each area of the festival and some of the films in that category.

For a previous brief I was interested in using The Newspaper Club for a publication and thought that producing this as a short A4 newsprint booklet, I would be able to fold it without altering the publication to fit a deep A5 envelope.

I downloaded the InDesign template provided on The Newspaper  Club website, and used a rule of thirds layout to show the information.

I played around with some layout ideas although I had a pretty clear image of how I wanted the publication to look. I want each spread to feature one page of information regarding the festival, opposite a poster of a film involved in the festival:

I chose a selection of these for the different spreads in the newspaper.

After extensively searching the website, I found that the 2015 nominees have not been released yet, so I used the films running in the 2014 festival as reference.

I used the same logo typeface for the title of each category and kept the same colour scheme, alternating between cyan, magenta and yellow on each spread, based on the colour scheme of the film posters I was incorporating.

Below is the PDF of the final version as it has been sent to The Newspaper Club:
